How We Began
Our first cocker spaniel was a black and tan puppy that was given to us. Nick soon became a part of the family and because of him we came to love the breed. He taught us many things about the cocker spaniel breed. Cockers are highly intelligent, loving, loyal, eager to please and do their master's bidding. They also have a highly developed hunting instinct.
At nine months of age Nick developed seborrhea and later cataracts. Our veterinarian explained that these were only two of a number of health problems in the cocker breed brought on by indiscriminate breeding practices. We were devastated that our wonderful dog should have to suffer from these health problems. Because we loved Nick, we did everything we could to make his life as comfortable as possible.
Nick lived nine years, and we mourned his loss. We wanted another cocker spaniel, but hopefully one without so many health problems. Because of that first cocker, we now have a kennel of happy and healthy cockers. It is our goal to produce cockers as free as possible of the many health problems that can sometimes plague the breed.
Nick is the reason we began our kennel, and he is the reason we dedicate this Web site to him. |
